What is the DC1000?
The DC1000 is a special type of dc current source that is used to test particular types of inductors and chokes: those that carry a dc current when in use or operate at high ac power.
Inductors that operate with dc current are very common in power electronics of course, where they simultaneously block ac ripple and noise but conduct dc with very low impedance. To check that these inductors will work properly in use, they are tested to ensure that they act as an ac filter whilst conducting dc current at the same time.

Typically, the ac characteristics of the inductor are checked by measuring high-frequency ac parameters such as inductance, L and quality factor Q, when the load dc current is applied. To apply the dc current, which may be tens of amps, without effecting the ac measurement requires a special type of dc current source. The Voltech DC1000 is a dc current bias supply of this type, a modern 'electronic inductor' version that has a very small effect on the ac measurement and, uniquely, may be used with almost any LCR meter to make those measurements.
